A fitting tribute to the genius behind Engineers’ Day

Students at AIMETC salute Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya’s contribution to nation-building by organising several online activities and events from September 13 to 15

Students of the School of Engineering and Technology, Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) in Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, commemorated the National Engineers Day on September 15, marking the 160th birth anniversary of the first engineer of India, Bharat Ratna, Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The celebrated engineer who designed and patented automatic water floodgates in 1903 at the Khadakwasla reservoir in Pune, Visvesvaraya was appointed the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. In this capacity, he was the chief engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Mysore.

Students at AIMETC participated in Reformation (Best out of Waste) competition, online quiz on brands and logos, flip-the-coin, photography competition, engineering marvels in life, poster and collage-making competition, virtually.  

At the session, Dr. Sandeep Ranjan, Dean, School of Engineering, delivered a speech on the achievements of engineers in different fields by sharing the visionary thoughts of Sir Visvesvaraya which remain relevant till date. Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, motivated the students to have a clear vision about their concepts and transform their skills to create innovative products and services in future.
